The challenge
Traditional leather production is one of the most environmentally damaging industries, contributing to deforestation, high water consumption, toxic chemical pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. The reliance on animal-based materials also raises ethical concerns. Without a shift toward sustainability, leather production will continue to harm ecosystems and contribute to climate change.
The solution
We aim to develop and scale sustainable alternatives to conventional leather by exploring options like: - Eco-friendly tanning methods that eliminate toxic chemicals such as chromium. - Bio-based leather alternatives, using plant-based, fungal, or lab-grown materials. - Circular economy principles, including leather recycling and upcycling to minimize waste. - Transparent and ethical sourcing, ensuring that every step in production aligns with sustainability goals.
